Day 1 Skopje
Arrival at Skopje. Transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 Skopje – St. Jovan Bigorski (140km/2h) – Ohrid (60km/1h)
The sightseeing tour starts with a visit to the old Train station. Continue on to the monument of Mother Teresa and its house; The Stone Bridge. The tour continues with The church St. Spas and The church St.Pantelejmon where inside the small stone and brick building lies some truly glorious frescos. Enjoy the great views over central Skopje from The Fortress Kale. Visit to St. Andrej – Matka. The frescoes in this church represent a departure from the traditional styles of the middle ages where the figures are more realistically painted. Leaving for St. Jovan Bigorski Monastery. Travel through the most picturesque part of Macedonia. The monastery is famous for its iconostasis the most beautiful one in our country. They are done in tiny woodcarving and are dedicated to the Jovan the Baptist (John the Baptist). Continue to Lake Ohrid.
Day 3 Ohrid – St.Naum – Ohrid
Visit Monastery St.Naum, located on the southeast side of Lake Ohrid. The original church was built by St.Naum in the IX century and was dedicated to the Saint Arhangels. One of the most beautiful frescos and iconostasis with gold plating from 1711 can be found here. Enjoy the picturesque view of the Ohrid Lake, one of Europe's deepest and oldest lakes. Its astonishingly clean and clear waters, together with the serene stillness of its mountain settings have captivated visitors since prehistoric times.
Day 4 Ohrid – Bitola (70km/1h)
Tour starts before the monument of St. Cyril and Methodius, the two Byzantine brothers, whose work influenced the cultural development of all Slavs. They are credited with devising the first alphabet. Continue to St. Nikola and St. Bogorodica, which requires water access, located on a wooded beach. Go to Lower gate ,the entrance of the old city of Ohrid and visit City Museum – the house of Robevi Family, which I very important historic building in Ohrid. The next stop is the church St. Sofia (XI century), Antic theater (III C.B.C), which is a great monument of antique Greco-Roman culture and offers a wonderful view of Lake Ohrid. Go thought the Upper gate, where to see the church St. Virgin Mary, St.Klement and Perivleptos, completely preserved medieval monuments, famous for their extraordinary architecture and fresco paintings. Visit the Gallery of effigies and after that continue on to the Samoil’s fortress. Find Plaoshnik, 250 meters below Samuil's Fortress. It is an archaeological site and holy place in Ohrid. Drive to Bitola.
Day 5 Bitola
Sightseeing of the town. Visit of the archaeological site Heraclea (Lincestis IV C.B.C). Visit the long pedestrian street “Sirok Sokak”, considered to be the centre of Bitola. It starts at the Bitola Clock Tower and ends in the City Park. Visit the Old Bazar, the most beautiful in Macedonia. Continue on to Heraclea Lincestis (5 km), ruins of an ancient Greek city. It is the oldest archeological locality from the roman times in Macedonia. Visit the church of St. Georgija - the village of Kurbinovo, Resen. The church is located just across from the north-eastern coast of Prespa Lake, in the foothills of the Pelister Mountains.
Day 6 Bitola – Prilep (Treskavec Monastery) – Stip (120km/1,30h)
Drive to Prilep and visit the “Treskavec” Monastery which provides spiritual tranquility to this picturesque area. Leaving to Stip. Visit church of St John the Baptist located above the left shore of the River Otinja, near the town of Stip. Built in the year 1350, the church is decorated with frescoes bequeathed by an unknown landowner named Ivanko.
Day 7 Stip – Kriva Palanka (90km/1,30h) – Skopje (100km/1h)
Visit St. Staro Nagoricae. This ethereal 14th century church is noteworthy both for its architecture and its frescoes. It is considered a key example of Christian heritage in this area. After Staro Nagoricane visit St. Joachim Osogovski monastery in Kriva Palanka..The monastery complex had always been an important cultural, religious, and educational centre. It consists of the church of St. Joachim Osogovski, a smaller 14th century church dedicated to the Holy Mother of God, a three-story dormitory, a bell tower with a charnel house at the bottom, a passage building, guardhouse, new dormitories and a residency of the Head of the Macedonian Orthodox Church.
Day 8 Skopje
Transfer to the airport.
