Lucerne Carnival, Lucerne, March - town goes crazy with a lantern-lit parade, musical groups and hundreds of people dressed in masks and costumes.
Bern Fasnacht Carnival, Berne, March - streets come alive with brass bands, hook-nosed witches, jovial jesters and the odd bear or two.
Zurich Carnival, March - the centre comes alive as carnival-goers dress up, don masks and jump on floats to show off their ridiculous costumes.
Lake Parade, Geneva, July - trucks known as the “Lovemobiles” blast out dance music.
Basel Tattoo, Basel, July - brings bagpipes, brass bands and folkloric dancing.
International Alphorn Festival, Nendaz, July - features folkloric dancing, country balls, a contest and impromptu jamming sessions between the horn players.
Medieval Festival, Zurich, August - visitors can watch costumed performers, enjoy medieval music and, of course, indulge in gallons of mead.

Day 1 Zurich
Arrival at Zurich airport and transfer to hotel in Luzern.
Day 2 Luzern - Mt. Pilatus - Luzern
Start the day with short city tour and visit the Chapel Bridge, the oldest preserved wooden bridge in Europe, the famous Lion Monument and walk around the old town. Enjoy a cruise on Lake Lucerne from Lucerne to Alpnachstad. Further proceed up to the Pilatus situated at a height of 2132 m by the steepest cogwheel railway in the world! Return to Lucerne for overnight.
Day 3 Luzern - Rigi Railway - Luzern
Today embark on a leisurely cruise across Lake Lucerne bound for Vitznau. Here join the Mount Rigi Railway, Europe’s first cog railway, as it climbs to the top of Rigi Kulm. On a clear day it is possible to see 13 of Switzerland’s lakes, and as far as France and Germany. From Rigi Kulm descend the opposite side of the mountain by cog railway to Arth Goldau, to join train for journey past pretty Lake Zugersee and back to Lucerne.
Day 4 Luzern - Mt.Titlis - Luzern
Excursion to Mount Titlis - it is located on the border between the cantons of Obwalden and Berne in Switzerland, overlooking Engelberg. See Titlis Rotair, Ice Flyer Chairlift, Glacier Park and Cave. Overnight in Lucerne.
Day 5 Luzern - Jungfraujoch - Interlaken
Proceed for excursions from Interlaken up to the Jungfraujoch also known as Top of Europe. From Interlaken Ost, proceed via Lauterbrunnen where you have to change trains and Wengen to the Kleine Scheidegg situated at the foot of the famous Eiger North Wall. Further proceed by Jungfrau Railway to the Jungfraujoch situated at a height of 3454 m/11’333 ft making it the highest railway station in Europe. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Aletsch Glacier which is the longest glacier in the Alps. Overnight stay at Interlaken.
Day 6 Interlaken - Chur - Zermatt
Transfer to Chur to board the world-famous Glacier Express - affectionately known as the slowest ‘express’ in the world. The journey traverses richly varied landscapes, from snow-capped mountains to peaceful meadows and dramatic passes. From Chur, it makes its way along the broad valley before it climbs towards the Oberalp Pass, the highest point of the route at 6,670 feet (2,033m). It then descends to Andermatt and continues down the Rhône Valley to Brig, a small historic town situated at the foot of the Simplon Pass. Enjoy the dramatic Swiss scenery continuing to the picturesque resort of Zermatt ,overlooked by the mighty Matterhorn.Overnight Zermatt.
Day 7 Zermatt - Gornergrat - Zermatt
The popular Gornergrat Bahn, Europe’s highest open-air cogwheel railway, takes you up to the Gornergrat 9.339 km away. On the Gornergrat viewing platform you are surrounded by 29 peaks rising to above 4000 m. Return to Zermatt and have an overnight.
Day 8 Zermatt - Zurich or Geneva airport
Departure transfer.
